Whether you rent a free room to summer guests or run a medium-sized hotel, whether you offer adventure or leisure activities or run a restaurant – we welcome you to our modern open destination network and ecosystem.
We have specialised in medium-sized, small and smallest accommodation and tourism providers in order to offer you simple, cost-effective and holistically optimal access to the digital world of your guests.
We democratize technology and through our unique, award-winning, inclusive and fair pricing model, originally developed for Africa, even the smallest provider can now afford our 5 Stages of Success or afford membership in the open rainmaker destinations network and ecosystem.
We attach great importance to servicing and featuring our members wherever they are. We have worked with and provided our services long-established in business for several generations, as well as start-ups who still have to find their way.
Our unique platform is able to integrate existing systems as well as dovetail different parallel booking portals into the platform and synchronize various marketing channels efficiently.
rainmaker travel was founded in Namibia in 2016 by the German IT and tourism expert Thomas Müller, after he had previously co-founded a hotel management company with Bruce Hutchison, a veteran in the hotel and tourism industry. He successfully led two hotels through a turnaround and was involved in the vision, concept, development and construction from the first pencil stroke to the opening, as well as being responsible for all marketing and sales, of the 150 room 4 restaurant Strand Hotel Swakopmund, Namibia.s leading hotel. Previously he worked with brands of companies such as TUI, Thomas Cook and IBM in eight different countries.
In the following years rainmaker travel established itself in other African countries. Today he is a popular speaker and moderator at events and conferences. His passion is to leave more tourism revenues in the destinations and thus with the providers, to democratize technology and make it available in an inclusive way in order to enable an economically sustainable tourism development and to reduce dependencies on market dominating platforms.
Since the beginning of 2020, Thomas Müller returned to Europe with this unique rainmaker travel methodology, to establish the concept, already successful in Africa, now in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol as well as other destinations globally.
rainmaker travel is a social enterprise, often called a Zebra company, and has received several awards globally for its innovations and impact in destinations.
Our philosophy is to combine the African spirit and innovation with German engineering and global technology to create a successful and sustainable business model. Europe can learn a lot from Africa when it comes to digitalisation and technology application. In these fields, Africa is often ahead of the rest of the world.
